In 1979 the finnish lapphund ("original reindeer herder"- type, which somewhat differs from the show-type. details will be found in http://www. paimensukuinen.fi/ in near future) Peski Hermes aka Rafu, invaded our family. I got my first bitch Naigu aka Putte in 1986. She later became obedience champion. These two dogs mated and thus I started breeding in 1989.
Today I have two finnish lapphunds in my family. Naavaneidon Natiivi aka Natu is 11 yrs granny and her daughter Tuiskuturkin Wamppi aka Mimmi is 3yrs. Besides them there are other four-legged creatures in my family: Jade is a Chinese crested, Teppo is a Somali cat and Jagger is a central bearded dragon.
My sister has two males from my kennel, Tuiskuturkin Parokki aka Pate and his son Tuiskuturkin Ronnie James.
During the years I've been engaged in several hobbies with my dogs - obedience, agility, rescue, running and as latest tokoagi, which is a finnish hobby for dogs, shortly described as a combination of obedience and agility made fun.
In my opinion people should be active with their dogs. I won't sell puppies to get chained in the back yards. There's a suitable hobby for every dog and owner. Prejudices you can throw away, I've proved that by attending grey hound running drills with finnish lapphunds!
